Thanksgiving 2016

I love hosting holidays.  Thanksgiving & Christmas are my favorite.  Starting the day off with a tator tot casserole.  Yummy!!!

Whats even better is the backyard raised turkey cooking in the oven.

November 4, 2016 - What do I want to be when I grow up?

The old age question.  It took me until my late 30’s to finally pursue my dream.

This little boy is 6 and has been saying for about a year now that he wants to be a scientist when he grows up.  Today at school he dress up for career day.

November 3, 2016 - Contacts

After Mason was born my eyes decided that I needed glasses full time.  While being in school and the constant pushing them up I decided I was going to give contacts a try.  Wish me luck!

October 17, 2016 - half way there.

It has been forty weeks since I started my cosmetology journey.  I am super glad I made this decision.  It has been the best, learning the proper way to do hair.  I have even learned more about make-up application.  I haven't master it yet,  but getting better.  I am in love with this!  I am so happy for this opportunity and that my husband and son are able to work around my hectic schedule.

October 9, 2016 - Hurricane Matthew

Hurricane Matthew came through & the winds were just strong enough to flip our chicken coop.  Thank goodness all the birds were ok.  You could tell they were scared and glad to get out of the coops when I opened the door.  Richie had to cut the legs off since one broke while being flipped.  Thank goodness the house and all of us wasn't harmed during this hurricane.  We know a few people that lost their home because of the flooding Matthew caused.  ☹️

July 18, 2016 - White Water Rafting, Richmond VA

I know it has even a while since I have written.  I am sorry.  Richie and I decided to take a mini vacation up to Richmond to go white water rafting.  This is his first time.  For an in city rafting event it was fun.  I would recommend it to anyone that is interested to going and has never been before.  It helps if you have a Groupon.

One Proud Mommy

Today my son has completed his first year of school.  It has been a blessing to watch him grow and learn.

At this point in his life he is wanting to be a robot scientist.  Time will only tell what he will aspire to be.

Barn Swallows

With the weather finally warmed up we have had a lot of tweeting going on, and noticed a birds nest appeared on one of the piler of front porch.

It has been really cute watching the Barn Swallows playing and chasing each other.   They also haven't cared that the front door is opened and closed fifty times a day.

Today we decided to look in the nest and saw that there are a few eggs.  So in about two weeks we should have some baby swallows.

Not only am I excited about the babies to come in a couple of weeks, but swallows eat about 850 bugs/insects a day!

Most thoughtful son

On Thursday 4/14/16.  I went into Chesapeake General hospital for a scheduled surgery to remove my gallbladder.  Over the last several years I couldn't quite figure out why I was occasionally had stomach pain, finally mid March it was confirmed why.

When Mason got home from school on Friday he decided to go all around the yard finding flowers he thought would be pretty to give to me.  When he walked in with the first batch I had the biggest smile on my face.  I have the most thoughtful 6 year possible.  I am so thankful for the little boy the lord has blessed us with.

Snip! Snip!

On Monday evening 4/4/16 I walk into cosmetology school and was asked to do a cut and color.  So I walked up to the client and introduced myself and we talked about what she was wanting to do with her hair.  She had relaxed her hair for the last 35 years and no longer wanted to put the chemicals in and wanted to take off all the hair that had had chemicals on it - which was about 5 to 6 inches.  Leaving only about 1 1/2 to 2 inches left.  I was excited to help her.   I sat her in my chair, draped her and started cutting the chemical treated hair off.  I was about 80% finished with the cut and, SNIP! I cut my pointer finger.  I was completely shocked by what I had just done.  I excused myself walked into the back and got my instructor we cleaned and patched the cut up and he says to me, "now get back out there, you have to finish your client".  I was thinking what in the world, I just cut my finger and you want me to finish.  But, I did what I was told and got back out there.  I finished the cut and put semi burgundy red color in.  The client was a littler shocked to see her hair chopped off, but loved it.  I wish I would have remembered to take a before and after picture of the client.  So, instead you get to see a picture of my cut.

All Trimmed Up

One of my daycare mom's ask me if I could trim her son's hair.

This little boy is almost 2, he has only had his hair trimmed by mom.  He did such an awesome job sitting still in the chair, allowing me to put the cape around him and spraying his hair with water, combing his hair, even allowing the scissor near his eyes for his bangs to be trimmed.

This little boy deserves a round of applause!
