One Proud Mommy

Today my son has completed his first year of school.  It has been a blessing to watch him grow and learn.

At this point in his life he is wanting to be a robot scientist.  Time will only tell what he will aspire to be.

Barn Swallows

With the weather finally warmed up we have had a lot of tweeting going on, and noticed a birds nest appeared on one of the piler of front porch.

It has been really cute watching the Barn Swallows playing and chasing each other.   They also haven't cared that the front door is opened and closed fifty times a day.

Today we decided to look in the nest and saw that there are a few eggs.  So in about two weeks we should have some baby swallows.

Not only am I excited about the babies to come in a couple of weeks, but swallows eat about 850 bugs/insects a day!

Most thoughtful son

On Thursday 4/14/16.  I went into Chesapeake General hospital for a scheduled surgery to remove my gallbladder.  Over the last several years I couldn't quite figure out why I was occasionally had stomach pain, finally mid March it was confirmed why.

When Mason got home from school on Friday he decided to go all around the yard finding flowers he thought would be pretty to give to me.  When he walked in with the first batch I had the biggest smile on my face.  I have the most thoughtful 6 year possible.  I am so thankful for the little boy the lord has blessed us with.

Snip! Snip!

On Monday evening 4/4/16 I walk into cosmetology school and was asked to do a cut and color.  So I walked up to the client and introduced myself and we talked about what she was wanting to do with her hair.  She had relaxed her hair for the last 35 years and no longer wanted to put the chemicals in and wanted to take off all the hair that had had chemicals on it - which was about 5 to 6 inches.  Leaving only about 1 1/2 to 2 inches left.  I was excited to help her.   I sat her in my chair, draped her and started cutting the chemical treated hair off.  I was about 80% finished with the cut and, SNIP! I cut my pointer finger.  I was completely shocked by what I had just done.  I excused myself walked into the back and got my instructor we cleaned and patched the cut up and he says to me, "now get back out there, you have to finish your client".  I was thinking what in the world, I just cut my finger and you want me to finish.  But, I did what I was told and got back out there.  I finished the cut and put semi burgundy red color in.  The client was a littler shocked to see her hair chopped off, but loved it.  I wish I would have remembered to take a before and after picture of the client.  So, instead you get to see a picture of my cut.

All Trimmed Up

One of my daycare mom's ask me if I could trim her son's hair.

This little boy is almost 2, he has only had his hair trimmed by mom.  He did such an awesome job sitting still in the chair, allowing me to put the cape around him and spraying his hair with water, combing his hair, even allowing the scissor near his eyes for his bangs to be trimmed.

This little boy deserves a round of applause!

It truly is a calling to be a daycare provider or a teacher.  You have to have patience to have many different personalities and to keep everyone in a routine.  Should the routine become interrupted, it could mean a bad day for all.  I have been blessed with some amazing kids under my care.  Some really sharp ones also.  They love to learn, and want to learn more.

Well I have to say since I have been using it, the kids love it and as soon as the parents walk in thru ask the child if they stayed on green.

The markings are all wood burned and I used house numbers and nailed them into the board.  the board it 6 feet tall, but I started at a half foot and went up to 6 1/2 feet.

So we were at Home Depot one day and was getting one of the cubby ahelf things for my son's room for his toys and a light bulb went off.  We could stack them and it could be my shelves in the living room and here you have it.  It worked out perfectly that our ceiling was the exact height of 3 cubby shelves.  We couldn't have planned that out any better.

Sowing Again

Anither Pinterest Find - thank you!

I found a pair of panted at the thrift store that would fit my niece with a little extra room to grow for $1.59.  I cut off about 6 1/2 inches on the bottom.  Cut up the seam to the crotch and then up the zipper in the front and almost all the way up to the top in the back.  I already had the fabric laying around from other projects, but I used the 6 1/2 inches from 1 leg I cut into pieces and sowed them together to make it taller - the. Started sewing the ruffles on.  I added a couple in the back to help hide her bum.  Again, I know there are some mistakes - but I am not a master seamstress.

A tube of white construction paper rolled over the front door.  I drew blue horizontal lines and two red perpendicular lines.  Took a left over gift wrapping paper roll and painted yellow.  Added aluminum foil to the end and painted the end red.  Added an additional paper to end for the tip of the pencil and colored black.
