I am an artist and hair is my canvas. NEXT! Hehehe.
Just over a year ago Mason decided he wanted to take up taekwondo. He has done so well and had moved up two belts already. One proud momma right here.
It has been forty weeks since I started my cosmetology journey. I am super glad made this decision. It has been the best learning the proper way to do hair. I have even learned more about make-up application. I haven't master it yet, but getting better. I am in love with this! I am so happy for this opportunity and that my husband and son are able to work around my hectic schedule.
Hurricane Matthew came through & the winds were just strong enough to flip our chicken coop. Thank goodness all the birds were ok. You could tell they were scared and glad to get out of the coops when I opened the door. Richie had to cut the legs off since one broke while being flipped. Thank goodness the house and all of us wasn't harmed during this hurricane. We know a few people that lost their home because of the flooding Matthew caused. ☹️
My cosmetology life has been enhanced! Swivel shears are a game changer for any cosmetologist. Snip Snip!!
I love hearing those words from him. Mommy can you show me how to! I was coloring some hair extensions & Mason wanted to know how to do it.
Who remembers that feelings you had on picture day for school. Mason practicing his look for pictures.
Only wishing I would have written this on his actual first day of 1st Grade. I do remember how excited he was to see who was in his class from kindergarten.
While plot was in town he wanted to test out my skills with a men's cut. I think he was well statified.
Pappy (my dad) came in from AZ to visit for a week. Mason wanted Pappy to teach him how to golf.
I know it has even a while since I have written. I am sorry. Richie and I decided to take a mini vacation up to Richmond to go white water rafting. This is his first time. For an in city rafting event it was fun. I would recommend it to anyone that is interested to going and has never been before. It helps if you have a Groupon.
Today my son has completed his first year of school. It has been a blessing to watch him grow and learn.
At this point in his life he is wanting to be a robot scientist. Time will only tell what he will aspire to be.
With the weather finally warmed up we have had a lot of tweeting going on, and noticed a birds nest appeared on one of the piler of front porch.
It has been really cute watching the Barn Swallows playing and chasing each other. They also haven't cared that the front door is opened and closed fifty times a day.
Today we decided to look in the nest and saw that there are a few eggs. So in about two weeks we should have some baby swallows.
Not only am I excited about the babies to come in a couple of weeks, but swallows eat about 850 bugs/insects a day!
On Thursday 4/14/16. I went into Chesapeake General hospital for a scheduled surgery to remove my gallbladder. Over the last several years I couldn't quite figure out why I was occasionally had stomach pain, finally mid March it was confirmed why.
When Mason got home from school on Friday he decided to go all around the yard finding flowers he thought would be pretty to give to me. When he walked in with the first batch I had the biggest smile on my face. I have the most thoughtful 6 year possible. I am so thankful for the little boy the lord has blessed us with.
On Monday evening 4/4/16 I walk into cosmetology school and was asked to do a cut and color. So I walked up to the client and introduced myself and we talked about what she was wanting to do with her hair. She had relaxed her hair for the last 35 years and no longer wanted to put the chemicals in and wanted to take off all the hair that had had chemicals on it - which was about 5 to 6 inches. Leaving only about 1 1/2 to 2 inches left. I was excited to help her. I sat her in my chair, draped her and started cutting the chemical treated hair off. I was about 80% finished with the cut and, SNIP! I cut my pointer finger. I was completely shocked by what I had just done. I excused myself walked into the back and got my instructor we cleaned and patched the cut up and he says to me, "now get back out there, you have to finish your client". I was thinking what in the world, I just cut my finger and you want me to finish. But, I did what I was told and got back out there. I finished the cut and put semi burgundy red color in. The client was a littler shocked to see her hair chopped off, but loved it. I wish I would have remembered to take a before and after picture of the client. So, instead you get to see a picture of my cut.
One of my daycare mom's ask me if I could trim her son's hair.
This little boy is almost 2, he has only had his hair trimmed by mom. He did such an awesome job sitting still in the chair, allowing me to put the cape around him and spraying his hair with water, combing his hair, even allowing the scissor near his eyes for his bangs to be trimmed.
This little boy deserves a round of applause!

It truly is a calling to be a daycare provider or a teacher. You have to have patience to have many different personalities and to keep everyone in a routine. Should the routine become interrupted, it could mean a bad day for all. I have been blessed with some amazing kids under my care. Some really sharp ones also. They love to learn, and want to learn more.

Well I have to say since I have been using it, the kids love it and as soon as the parents walk in thru ask the child if they stayed on green.
